An Online Booking & CRM system for Dragons Rugby
As passionate rugby fans, it’s a huge pleasure to announce that we’ve been appointed by Welsh rugby region, Dragons, to develop an online room booking and bespoke CRM system.
The project will help Dragons meet key objectives around improving internal processes and efficiency, while also boosting commercial revenue.
The Background
Dragons were acquired by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) in March 2017, assuming overall operational control and rebranding the region as the ‘Dragons’.
It was a deal that also included the purchase of the nine-acre Rodney Parade rugby ground, in Newport; a venue which has since received new investment to allow for improvements to the stadium facilities, and a new hybrid pitch.
Founder and former Chief Executive of Just Eat, David Buttress was appointed as Chairman in September of last year and a new board has since been appointed with a remit of delivering success both on and off the field

Conference Room Booking System
thinkBooker will be working with the Conference & Events team at Rodney Parade to develop an internal booking system, which will allow Dragons staff to book the facilities for customers online, accommodating events such as:
- Meetings
- Conferences
- Weddings parties
- Match-day hospitality
An online diary view will provide full visibility of the facilities which are booked and available at any one time. It’ll also provide the Conference & Events team with a range of back-end tools designed to reduce reliance on email and telephone calls, while saving further time by automating many of the admin tasks that are currently carried out manually.
Bespoke CRM System
In tandem with the new booking system, thinkBooker will also be developing a bespoke CRM System. This will provide a high level of account management for existing customers and sponsors, as well as maximising commercial revenue through accurate targeting of potential new clients.
The system will record the full booking history for each customer and the full entitlements and rights of each sponsor as well as recording any communication with customers and sponsors.
This will enable the Dragons sales and marketing teams to segment the database, allowing them to issue specific and relevant communication to each contact. It will also allow the Dragons to produce regular reports and provide management information in real-time through an Executive Dashboard.
