New Pitch and Room Booking System for the FAW Trust
We’re delighted to announce that the Football Association of Wales Trust has appointed thinkBooker to develop a new pitch and room booking system for Dragon Park, the Wales National Football Development Centre located at the Newport International Sports Village in South Wales.
About the Facility
A joint-venture between Football Association of Wales, UEFA, Sport Wales and Newport City Council, Dragon Park is now home to eight of Wales’ representative teams, including Wales Women and the Men’s Under-21 squads. It also serves as the home for the FAW Trust.
A purpose built, state-of-the-art training centre, the facility boasts two state-of-the-art outdoor grass pitches, a 3G pitch, changing rooms, physio rooms, ice baths and a variety of meeting and conference rooms; a reason that it’s been used as a training venue for leading teams such as Manchester City and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Pitch & Room Booking System
With a range of pitches and facilities available at the site, the FAW Trust require a sports booking system to allow football teams and other organisations to book online. Site users will also have the ability to view and book the numerous meeting and conference rooms available at the Dragon Park site, including requests for extras such as refreshments or audio-visual equipment.
The FAW Trust will use the thinkBooker back-office application to manage and approve all pitch bookings made online.
The booking system is likely to be extended in the future to include the booking of another football training facility that is planned for development in North Wales.
In addition, the Trust need an online diary system to provide them, the FAW, and other partners with the ability to view all bookings and events in real-time. It’s a function that will enable all interested parties’ full visibility of what is happening, and the resources being utilised at any given time.
A Developing Partnership
The new booking and diary system comes on the back of the development of the Volunteer Web App for the FAW Trust by our parent company UpriseVSI. Created around Cardiff’s successful hosting of the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final, the app captures details of people who are interested in volunteering to help at a Welsh football club and matches them with vacancies advertised by a club.
Gareth Rees Jones, Managing Director of thinkBooker commented; “It’s great to continue our relationship with the FAW Trust by helping them to develop an online booking and diary system. The thinkBooker system has been used extensively in football and sport but has also been deployed in many other different sectors. As a bespoke solution, it has the capability to help companies to not only manage their online bookings but also to improve internal visibility of bookings through an online diary system as well as helping companies to manage staff scheduling.”
