Stubbers Smash Camps

Adventure and Activity Bookings for Families and Kids


The Intro

Smash Camps is an integral part of the Stubbers Adventure Centre, based on 130 acres of Essex countryside, just a short drive from the town of Upminster. It offers a range of daily and multiday residential activities and adventures for children of all ages and families. Founded more than 20 years ago, Stubbers and the Smash Camps brand are a well-established name in the region with a long-held reputation for delivering quality activities and family-friendly fun.



Their Needs

Stubbers had identified a number of key reasons for introducing an online booking system for Smash Camps.

First, there was the need to continue providing their customers with a simple and high-quality experience that was not only in keeping with the positive experience they would expect at the venue itself, but was also fast and simple enough to help increase new and repeat bookings. This included the requirement for a robust online payment facility for customers, with the ability to accept childcare vouchers.

Second, the new booking system would need to provide greater efficiency within the business, with Stubbers looking to reduce the level of admin generated when managing the variety of bookings.


Our Challenge

  • Deliver a booking system that would allow customers to search and book onto the course or activity of their choice, quickly and easily via the company website
  • Ensure a high-quality user experience for the customer on desktop, mobile, tablet or over the phone
  • Design a system that exactly matched the existing website look, feel and brand guidelines
  • Provide automated processes in the back-end of the system that would eliminate the manual admin that was identified as a drain on time


The Work

The Online Booking System

At the heart of the project was the development of the thinkBooker activity booking system, providing a fully-mobile responsive means for customers to book their children or families onto the course and activities that they want, in a matter of minutes, 24/7. The ‘My Booking’ feature allowing them to login at any time to view history, change details and add in any pre-activity info required.

Automated Booking Management

To improve operational efficiency thinkBooker delivered a powerful back-end management platform, accessed via an executive dashboard on desktop, mobile or tablet. Automated emails save time on customer communication and engagement, while real-time reports, course registers and instant access to key metrics at any time, provides a view of all essential data while eliminating manual admin tasks.

The Work


The thinkBooker system was delivered with its in-built CRM, ensuring that all client and booking data was securely captured within a GDPR compliant database; data that can be segmented and used for future insight and marketing. The data has the facility to be extracted and used with third-party digital marketing. This data is also exported to the company-wide CRM system.
